Overview

Our client is seeking a Lead Dev Ops Engineer to join their consultancy team. This role is pivotal in delivering value, driving automation, and shaping resilient systems and applications for a variety of public and private sector clients.

As a Lead Dev Ops Engineer, you will act as both a hands-on technical specialist and a consultant, providing expertise across infrastructure, automation, and cloud platforms. You will play a key role in defining best practices, mentoring engineers, and supporting business growth by contributing to bids, proposals, and thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a technical SME within the engineering community, ensuring user-centred software delivery aligned with best practice.
• Champion infrastructure-as-code and automation with a platform-agnostic mindset.
• Operate in a hands-on development environment across multiple platforms, languages, and frameworks.
• Provide technical leadership in cloud architecture, testing, data platforms, and support practices.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to professional development.
• Lead recruitment of technical staff and contribute strategically to the engineering function.
• Support new business opportunities by writing technical proposals and representing expertise at client engagements.
• Contribute to the wider technical community through blogs, workshops, and events.

Candidate Profile

• Expert proficiency with Azure cloud services and Azure Dev Ops.
• Strong experience designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (particularly Git Lab CI/CD).
• Proven ability to deploy and manage containerised applications using Kubernetes.
• Advanced use of Terraform for cloud infrastructure provisioning.
• Integration of testing tools (e.g., PyTest, Selenium) within automated pipelines.
• Experience with Docker for containerisation and packaging.
• Implementation and management of monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana).
• Strong knowledge of cloud security practices, including TLS encryption and secrets management.
• Experience with Git Lab API for automation and reporting.
• Knowledge of security and approval planning processes.
• Experience with Apache Tomcat, SIP, RTF, or telephony systems.
