As Lead Solutions Architect (Data) you will provide technical leadership, facilitation, analysis and design expertise to develop the Data domain solution architecture for the Transmission Business Unit, both projects and BAU functions. Managing the design and evolution of data platforms/tools/and technology solutions and architectural frameworks.
You willReport to the Head of Architecture, creating high level solution models, domain roadmaps and solution architectures, including solution patterns/blueprints, to guide solution decisions for the Data domain, aligned to business operations and RIIO-T3 investments needs.
- Act as a Data platforms and technologies SME, staying current with evolving tools and guiding strategic direction.
- Ensure compliance of all high-level solution architectures to the target architecture, roadmaps, guardrails, IT principles and standards and that any deviations to the standards follow the Architecture Governance process.
- Provide technical leadership to BAU and Project resources and influencing architectural decisions.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the right data reaches the right stakeholders, to become a data-driven leader in electricity transmission, harnessing the power of data to deliver a safe, resilient, and efficient electricity transmission network.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions by ensuring data governance, security, and compliance across all data assets and provide cost effective, well architected technical solution designs as required. Assure the delivery of projects to ensure they remain aligned to agreed architectures.
- Own end-to-end technical architecture across the Data domain - from business applications and source systems through data integration, data platforms, analytics, AI and data consumption, ensuring coherent architecture across the full data lifecycle.
- Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") business strategy and goals, along with short-term perspectives of situations. Track record of production, maintenance and use of EA level guardrails, strategies, technical standards, solution design documents, etc., specifically in the Data domain.
- Practical experience of agile development processes, including but not limited to Dev Ops, Scrum, Kanban and lean development and the ability to estimate the financial implications of proposed solutions architectures.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, using strong influencing skills and a deep understanding of business objectives to shape the strategic direction of Transmission's IT domain solutions architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience, IT domain solutions architecture experience in asset intensive industries, ideally of course in energy and more so in power.
