M365, SharePoint & Power Platform, Data Engineering, Azure
You will turn approved data into two things people can use:
Power BI reporting that managers trust, and Copilot Studio agents that answer routine questions from that same governed data. The two are built together, so an agent never answers from a source the reporting does not already control.
You will work with the client’s data and analytics team, data owners in the business and the Microsoft 365 platform team. The role is hands‑on: you build, test, document and hand over. It is not a strategy or advisory post.
The outcome by the end of the contract is a set of reports and the first agents in production use, with security, data lineage and support arrangements documented and accepted by the client
KeySkills & Experience:
- Active SC clearance, held now, not lapsed and not pending.
- At least three years building Power BI solutions in production: semantic modelling, DAX, Power Query, row-level security and deployment pipelines.
- Hands‑on Copilot Studio experience: you have built at least one agent that reached production use, grounded in enterprise data rather than a demo.
- Working knowledge of the wider Power Platform:
Dataverse, Power Automate and the environment, DLP and licensing model that governs them. - Strong SQL and sound data‑modelling judgement.
- Experience in public sector, defence or another regulated environment, with the discipline that comes with it.
- Able to explain a technical choice to a non‑technical manager in plain English, and to write documentation others can use.
- Right to work in the UK without sponsorship
Experience:
- Microsoft Fabric: lake houses, pipelines and One Lake as a source for both reporting and agents.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility: declarative agents and Microsoft Graph connectors.
- Azure AI Foundry or Azure OpenAI, and an understanding of where Copilot Studio ends and custom development begins.
- Microsoft certifications such as PL-300 (Power BI Data Analyst), PL-200 (Power Platform Functional Consultant) or AI-102 (Azure AI Engineer).
- Experience with Microsoft Purview for data classification and audit.
- Agile delivery with Azure Dev Ops or an equivalent toolset.
- Design, build and maintain Power BI reports, semantic models and dataflows against agreed requirements.
- Write and tune DAX measures and Power Query transformations; apply row‑level security where the data demands it.
- Work with data owners to define measures, resolve data‑quality issues and record lineage from source to report.
- Manage work spaces, deployment pipelines and refresh schedules in line with the client’s release process.
The position is primarily based around standard working hours. Due to the global nature of the systems being supported, candidates must be comfortable participating in a planned support rota and providing some additional flexibility during major go lives.
