Field Service Engineer; Pumps

Role Summary

The Field Service Engineer will provide field service support at customer sites located both in the UK and globally, including offshore installations. The role covers all aspects of field service, from plant installation and commissioning through to fault finding and pump or cartridge removal. Extended on‑site attendance during mobilisations is expected. Complete pump dismantling and detailed strip and inspection reports are key requirements.

• Undertake investigation/troubleshooting at customer premises to quantify possible extent and source of reported operational problems, providing information, digital photographs, and reports.
• Remove or supervise removal of pumping equipment from sites for transfer to Service Centre as required.
• Install and commission pumping equipment after return from overhaul or new from factory.
• Undertake condition monitoring and performance monitoring activities.
• Dismantle pumping plant, including cartridge removal, and produce detailed strip/inspection reports with dimensional checks and digital photographs on‑site or in local workshop.
• Re‑assemble pumping machinery on‑site or in the Service Centre using new spare parts or agreed refurbishment techniques.
• Supervise contractor or client personnel as required to fulfill the scope of the contract.
• Produce daily reports and technical reports after project completion.
• Undertake pump and pump set assembly within the manufacturing plants.
• Ensure adherence to all Corporate Environmental, Health & Safety guidelines and project requirements.

• Fundamental knowledge of pumps and associated equipment.
• Background in field service or workshop service of rotating equipment.
• Experience commissioning rotating equipment in the field or a test facility.
• Experience using light workshop machinery such as drills, milling machines, and conventional lathes.
• Customer‑facing skills with the ability to articulate machinery assessments.
• “Can do” approach with strong awareness of what is needed to achieve outcomes under pressure.
• Problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Work effectively on own or within a team environment internally and externally.
• Identify and produce hazards/risk assessments to a high standard.
• Prepared to work away from home for several weeks at a time.
• Understanding and working experience of health and safety procedures; complete written risk assessments.
• Good report‑writing skills and command of the English language, both verbal and written.
• Time‑served mechanical apprenticeship is essential.

You must have a valid right to work in the UK and be able to obtain security clearance to apply for this role.

• Required daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear and see (specific close vision abilities are required to perform computer work).
• Required occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
• Required daily to use hands and fingers and arms to reach (to operate a computer and telephone).
• Required occasionally to lift and or move light to moderate objects.
• Required occasionally to travel (usually by air or road, may be required to sit for extended periods).

• Ability to work with moderate noise (business office with computers, phone, and printers).
• Ability to work in an open planned office or individual office.
• Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
• Ability to sit in a car or on a plane for extended periods.
