Treatment Operator - Waste Water

What You’ll Do

You’ll be part of a team of Waste Water Operatives working to protect Scotland’s environment – ensuring waste is managed responsibly and always looking for ways to do even more. It’s about meeting regulations and going further, all while doing what’s right for the environment.

Day-to-day, you will monitor and maintain treatment processes on wastewater – from sedimentation to filtration. You’ll record key numbers, file reports, analyze samples and test results, and recommend ways to improve processes wherever possible. You’ll also oversee regular maintenance to keep the site and the water running smoothly.

You’ll bring a way with words and be confident working on your own. An ability to focus on customer satisfaction is essential.

Comfortable transitioning between computer systems? Good – we like to move with the times. Attention to detail is a must; under your watch the risk of inaccurate recordings or health and safety failures will be zero. Spotting changes and trends helps you solve problems. As part of the team you’ll take turns on the standby rota for out-of-hours work.

Get ready for a whisper – treatment plants don’t smell of cut grass and freshly baked bread – so you’ll need to accept the occasional whiff for the good of Scotland’s water.

Ideally you will have some mechanical knowledge to help identify problems before they arise. If you don’t, we can provide training.

You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday each year, including public holidays. You can buy five additional days if you need extra time. Pay time off is available to volunteer. 4. Starting salary is £31,640, with performance‑driven progression up to £36,460.
