Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role

You will assist in the day to day operation of the Telecare service contributing to the provision of a high standard of person centred care and support for service users throughout the city of Aberdeen.

The Senior Telecare Technician supports the day-to-day delivery of the Telecare service, helping to provide high-quality, person-centred support to service users across Aberdeen City. The role involves assessing service users in their home environments, installing, maintaining, repairing and uplifting community alarm and specialist Telecare equipment, responding to faults, completing battery and maintenance visits. The postholder works closely with the Telecare Engineers, allocates and monitors technicians’ workloads, and provides line management support through regular review, performance, attendance and induction meetings.

Additional responsibilities include monitoring digital portals, maintaining records and completing administrative and absence-related documentation, delivering Telecare awareness and training sessions to professionals, staff and members of the public, participating in weekend and public-holiday rotas, and ensuring that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and service-user requirements.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

• Full driving licence.
• Extensive knowledge in the Electrical or Telecare field.
• Ability to move and handle items of equipment.

The post holder will be expected to:

• Work in accordance with Adult and Public Protection principles and procedures.
• Adhere to the requirements of company policy and procedures and health and
  safety policies and legislation.
• Undertake equipment specific training.
• Undertake lifting and handling training
• Complete Customer Service training.
• Undertake the PDA in Telehealthcare

• The ability to communicate effectively with people.
• Demonstrable IT skills.
• Ability to operate a wide variety of tools and test equipment.
• Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
• Ability to work with others and as part of a team.
