The Director, Institutional Advancement is the College's key leadership role, overseeing and implementing strategies to enhance the institution's reputation, increase visibility, and drive engagement with various stakeholders. This position is vital in advancing the institution's mission, strengthening its brand, and moving its fundraising efforts and targets.
The position is critical in shaping the college's image, engaging stakeholders, and driving its long-term success. This position requires a strategic thinker, effective communicator, and collaborative leader who can navigate the complex landscape of higher education while advancing the institution's mission and goals.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive institutional advancement plans aligned with the college's goals and objectives. Identify target audiences and develop strategies to reach and engage them effectively.
Fundraising and Development: Work closely with the IA team and the Fundraising Committee members to support fundraising efforts and target for the College. Collaborate on the creation and execution of fundraising campaigns, donor stewardship programs, and grant applications. Identify and increase the pool of donors. Cultivate relationships with potential donors and secure financial support for the college's initiatives.
Alumni Relations and Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to foster strong relationships with alumni, encouraging their continued involvement and support. Plan and execute engaging alumni events, programs, and initiatives to enhance alumni pride and loyalty.
Budget Management: Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and aligned with institutional goals.
Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the institutional advancement and marketing team. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting professional development and teamwork.
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree or above in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
At least 15 years of experience in institutional advancement, marketing, or related roles in the B2C sector.
Previous working experience in the higher education sector is an advantage but not a must.
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing and advancement strategies.
Experience in alumni relations, fundraising, and donor stewardship.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Language:
Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders. Provide strong leadership and guidance to their teams. This includes inspiring and motivating others, making tough decisions, and setting a clear strategic direction.
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences. Ability to articulate ideas clearly, listen actively, and communicate with various stakeholders, including executives, employees, and external partners.

Strong ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and make informed decisions that align with the organization's goals.
Collaboration:
Skilled at fostering a collaborative culture and promoting effective teamwork.
Emotional Intelligence:
Including self-awareness, empathy, and the ability to manage emotions and others.

Adaptable and flexible. The ability to navigate ambiguity, embrace change, and lead teams through transitions effectively.
Problem-Solving:
Strong problem-solving skills to identify and address complex challenges. This includes the ability to analyze information, think critically, and develop innovative solutions to drive organizational success.
Influencing and Negotiation:
Skilled at building consensus, persuading others, and finding mutually beneficial outcomes.
Ethical and Professional Conduct:
Lead by example, act with integrity, and make decisions that consider the best interests of the organization and its stakeholders.
Experience in Business Development within NGOs will be highly preferred.
Exceptional candidates with slightly less experience but strong leadership and strategic achievements may be considered for the Senior Manager position.
Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Initial appointment will normally be made on a renewable 24-month contract. Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The College offers group medical insurance and dental, staff development support and annual leave to eligible appointee(s).
