Facilities and Security Manager (Part-Time)

We have an excellent opportunity for a Facilities & Security Manager to join our team in Aberdeen on a part‑time (3 days per week) basis. The role is in a job‑share capacity and is based primarily at Aberdeen Airport, with overall responsibility for the safe, efficient, and secure operation of Aberdeen, Inverness, and occasionally Glasgow bases.

The Facilities & Security Manager is an integral part of the Scotland region’s operational and compliance structure, supervising the local Ground Handling team in Aberdeen and overseeing the upkeep and security of the facilities at both Aberdeen and Inverness sites. The position is physical and hands‑on, requiring autonomy and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. Strong communication and smooth hand‑overs with the job‑share partner are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Support facilities projects as required – office moves, building change requests, refurbishment projects
  • First point of contact for building and maintenance issues
  • Plan and coordinate third‑party contractors to ensure facilities maintenance and compliance with regulations
  • Provide/facilitate induction training of new starters and contractors
  • Proactively manage building faults and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate emergency repairs as necessary
  • Produce and compile RFQ (request for quotes) and continuous supplier due diligence
  • Oversee plant maintenance – general maintenance, equipment repair, routine checks
  • Record and enact facilities requests – from large capex to small day‑to‑day maintenance
  • Ensure serviceability of all facilities vital systems
  • Plan work tasks – costs and schedules
  • Maintain compliance with all necessary standards (e.g., electrical inspections)
  • Effectively manage sub‑contractors, ensuring KPIs for response/call‑out times are met
  • Ensure continued function, presentation, and legal compliance of facilities
  • Administer company  security system and act as authorized signatory
  • Ensure compliance with AGS and HIAL airports aviation security protocols
  • Manage security infrastructure (access control, CCTV, alarms, key and document storage) and conduct internal and external audits
  • Supervise and direct ground handlers during shifts to deliver a safe, efficient, and positive customer experience in line with company procedures and relevant regulations
  • Ensure correct issue and receipt of aviation grade fuels to aircraft and proper recording
  • Maintain records and plan training events for ground handling personnel in the region per the Regional Ground Handling Procedures Manual
  • Direct aircraft towing activities and ensure routine and ad‑hoc apron foreign‑object inspections are undertaken
  • Coordinate all operational tasks related to handling third‑party aircraft and oversee transportation of clients and third parties as required
  • Comply with processes, policies and procedures in the Ground Handling Procedures Manual for handling company and third‑party aircraft
  • Administer the company audit programme as per the schedule in the Ground Handling Procedures Manual
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in a facilities/security management role with strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance and operations
  • Passion for service delivery in a highly regulated industry
  • Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent communication skills with a range of audiences, including management
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
  • Flexibility – a “can‑do” attitude for covering a variety of tasks
  • Demonstrated initiative and professional behaviour
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise
  • Willingness to travel to Aberdeen and Inverness facilities as required, including overnight stays when obligatory
Advantageous
  • Previous experience in facilities management within the aviation sector
  • Good working knowledge of the appropriate HSE requirements for safe facilities management
