The Netherton Hub is a major new energy infrastructure development located near Peterhead in Aberdeenshire, forming a key part of SSEN Transmission’s multi‑billion‑pound Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) programme and its wider Pathway to 2030 upgrade of the Scottish transmission network.

Designed to strengthen the UK's ability to transport renewable electricity from the north of Scotland to high-demand centres nationwide, the hub will incorporate a new High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converter station, a 400 kV substation, a 132 kV substation, and associated operational facilities. Once complete, it will enable efficient long-distance transmission of offshore and onshore renewable energy, supporting both UK and Scottish Government net‑zero targets while delivering significant economic benefits, job creation, and local supply‑chain opportunities.

Governance

• Hold periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in accordance with GBL
• Ensure the team maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)
• Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders
• Ensure project delivery is undertaken in accordance with delegated authority levels and governance requirements.
• Escalate strategic issues, significant risks or decisions beyond delegated authority.

Analytical Thinking & Decision Making

• Initiates good scope/information/configuration management principles
• Provide accurate reporting and recommendations to support informed project and business decisions.
• Make timely operational decisions within delegated authority to support project objectives.
• Ensure scope and package assignment supports the team in coordinated working

Health Safety & Environmental

• Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation
• Responsible for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain
• Carry out periodic Safety & Environmental Tours/promote observation and safety initiatives
• Support Accident/Incident Investigations
• Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement solutions.

Leadership/Line Management

• Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations
• Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management.
• Lead and develop project team members through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performing project culture.

Procurement & Supply Chain

• Manage subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that contractual arrangements are achieved
• Ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans, such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled deadlines

Quality

• Ensure all work is undertaken with a view towards handover and certification
• Accountable for KPI’s in line with project objectives and monitor performance
• Ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings
• Lead working groups and work with OLT on focused improvement areas

Schedule

• Develop, implement, review and periodically update resource loaded schedules
• Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls techniques
