An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ANP or ACP to join the Emergency Pathway within Medicine and Unscheduled Care as part of a structured rotational programme. This post includes day and night shifts, covering the service Monday‑Sunday with a 12‑hour shift pattern.
This Post Will Rotate Through- Flow Navigation Centre (FNC)
- Acute Medicine (RAAC / Short Stay Medicine / AMIA)
- Minor Injuries Unit (MIU)
- Emergency Department (ED)
The post holder will be encouraged and supported to maintain and develop the competencies required for Advanced Practice in Acute Care. Evidence of working and thinking at Master’s level should be demonstrated within the post holder’s personal professional portfolio. The post holder will have an identified Practice Supervisor and will be allocated dedicated non‑clinical time to ensure compliance with the Advanced Practice Best Practice Guide.
As a dynamic role developed in conjunction with the expansion of the ANP/ACP role within the Flow Navigation Centre, the post holder will gain experience and contribute to new service models across the Emergency Pathway to improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide autonomous clinical practice within Acute Medicine: assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of adults presenting with acute, undifferentiated or complex medical conditions.
- Work autonomously in the Minor Injury Unit, delivering person‑centred care, timely decision‑making and safe management of wounds, fractures, sprains, soft‑tissue injuries, burns and minor head injuries.
- Assess, diagnose, treat and manage patients presenting to the Emergency Department with undifferentiated, acute, traumatic and complex conditions, ensuring rapid decision‑making, effective prioritisation and appropriate escalation.
- Support safe, effective decision‑making through the use of video and telephone consultations (Near Me or telephone) for patients referred by Scottish Ambulance Service, NHS
24, primary care, Police Scotland, Cancer Treatment Helpline, care homes and community pharmacies, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time and place. - Participate in the Flow Navigation Centre’s central point of contact for professional‑to‑professional discussions and patient routing.
An attractive relocation allowance of up to £8,000 may be available to successful candidates.
