Job OverviewNHS Grampian is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Hyperbaric Nurse to join our specialist Hyperbaric Medicine Unit in Aberdeen, the only category 1 chamber in Scotland. This is a unique opportunity to work within a highly specialised, multidisciplinary team delivering life‑saving and elective hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). The role includes deputising and assisting the Senior Charge Nurse to lead, motivate, educate and line‑manage a team of dual‑trained nurses (Intensive Care and Hyperbaric) to provide the Hyperbaric service on a 24‑hour responsibility basis.
Our service provides care for patients with conditions such as decompression illness, carbon monoxide poisoning, non‑healing wounds, and other complex clinical needs. You will play a vital role in delivering safe, high‑quality care in a technically advanced and rewarding environment. The role includes supporting both emergency presentations and planned treatments, ensuring patient safety within the hyperbaric chamber at all times.
Responsibilities- Deputise for and assist the Senior Charge Nurse in leading, motivating, educating and line‑managing dual‑trained nurses for 24‑hour responsibility.
- Provide hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for both emergency and elective cases.
- Ensure patient safety within the hyperbaric chamber throughout all procedures.
- Deliver care for patients with decompression illness, carbon monoxide poisoning, non‑healing wounds and complex clinical needs.
- Support the multidisciplinary team and contribute to service development and improvement.
- Band 6 nurse with broad experience in hyperbaric nursing.
- Completed Critical Care qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work in both Intensive Care and Hyperbaric units.
- Strong core values, team spirit, personal motivation and commitment to lifelong learning.
