Role Description The Assistant Greenkeeper is a full-time, on-site role based in Aberdeen, responsible for supporting the maintenance and presentation of the golf course. Day-to-day duties include mowing greens, tees, and fairways; raking bunkers; setting up the course for daily play and competitions; and assisting with irrigation, topdressing, and aeration tasks. The role involves safe operation and basic maintenance of turf care machinery and equipment, as well as helping with small landscaping projects, divot repairs, and course improvements.

The Assistant Greenkeeper will work closely with the senior leadership and wider greenkeeping team, follow established agronomic and safety practices, and contribute to consistently high standards of course conditioning. Some early morning, weekend, and seasonal work may be required to meet the needs of the club and its events schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience or strong interest in golf course, sports turf, or grounds maintenance, including basic knowledge of turf care practices.
• Ability to safely operate and care for machinery and tools such as mowers, strimmers, and utility vehicles.
• Good physical fitness, with the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform manual tasks throughout the day.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and pride in maintaining high presentation standards on the course.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and follow instructions from senior staff.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings and some weekends, in line with golf club operations.
• Basic understanding of workplace health and safety; formal training or certifications in this area are an advantage.
• Relevant vocational qualification in greenkeeping, horticulture, or grounds management is beneficial but not essential; training and development support may be provided.
