Job Description & How to Apply Below

Are you an experienced Lab Technician with a background in chemistry or laboratory testing looking for your next opportunity in manufacturing?

We’re recruiting a Laboratory Technician to join our client’s Research and Development (R&D) team on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity to put your laboratory skills to use, supporting product testing, preparing samples and assisting with the development of new products from initial testing through to launch.

Responsibilities in your new role as a Laboratory Technician

Working as part of the R&D team, you will support Product Technologists and Formulation Chemists with day-to-day laboratory activities, including preparing samples, carrying out tests and monitoring product stability. You will help ensure laboratory work is completed safely, accurately and in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and testing product samples using a range of laboratory equipment.
  • Carrying out routine laboratory tests, including product performance and stability testing.
  • Assisting with the development and testing of new product formulations.
  • Supporting product trials, from initial laboratory testing through to larger-scale manufacturing.
  • Recording test results accurately and following established laboratory procedures.
  • Working with the wider R&D, Production and Quality Assurance teams to support product development.
  • Helping to improve laboratory processes and the efficient use of raw materials.
Your personality, experience and qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have a Degree in Chemistry, an HNC or equivalent practical experience, along with previous experience working in a chemical laboratory. Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as viscometers, pH meters and solids testing equipment would be an advantage. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • A good understanding of chemistry and practical laboratory procedures.
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally within manufacturing or FMCG.
  • Experience preparing samples, carrying out laboratory tests and recording results.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow testing procedures accurately.
  • Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A flexible and reliable attitude, with an interest in product testing and development.
