Retail Assistant

Somebody Cares SCIO, founded in 2002, is a 23-year old charity serving Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Dedicated to alleviating poverty and improving lives, we provide essential services including a comprehensive food bank offering tailored food parcels to meet dietary needs, such as vegan, vegetarian, and halal options. Each year, we provide over 150,000 meals and furnish 600-800 homes, while also addressing clothing poverty and offering support to vulnerable groups like addiction sufferers, victims of domestic violence, asylum seekers, and ex-offenders.

Our retail shops and monthly sales contribute to environmental sustainability by reducing landfill waste and fostering local employment opportunities. Recognized for our efforts, we were awarded Large Organisation of the Year at the Celebrate Aberdeen awards in 2025.

There are two part-time retail assistant positions located in Bridge of Don, Aberdeen. The Retail Assistant will assist customers, ensure a welcoming store environment, and manage day-to-day tasks such as sorting donations, stocking shelves, organizing displays, and handling sales. Additional responsibilities include providing exceptional customer service, supporting sales initiatives, and assisting in the smooth operations of the shop as part of the retail team.

This role plays a key part in supporting the charity’s mission of alleviating hardship and poverty. The hours for each position is 18 hours per week across three days.

• Experience in Customer Service and a commitment to delivering a positive Customer Experience
• Strong Communication skills to engage with customers and team members effectively
• Ability to execute Retail Sales and Sales operations efficiently
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail
• Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
• Previous retail or customer-facing experience is a plus
