Lead Software Engineer

Day Rate: £55 per hour

IR35 Status: Outside IR35

Working Pattern: Remote, with occasional onsite meetings

Are you a Lead Software Engineer with a strong background in embedded software and complex engineering systems, looking for your next contract opportunity?

Maxwell Bond is partnering with an established engineering technology business seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to support the development of advanced software solutions.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the software development lifecycle, contributing to system architecture, software design and implementation.

You will work closely with engineering teams to develop reliable, high-quality software for complex technical applications.

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, with 7+ years' experience in senior or lead software engineering roles
• Strong experience in embedded software development and complex software systems
• Experience designing software architecture for embedded or integrated engineering systems
• Good understanding of software development processes, testing, quality assurance and safety
• Proven experience providing technical leadership and guiding software engineering teams

• Strong programming experience in C++, Python or Java Script
• Experience working with embedded Linux or other Linux-based environments, alongside Windows
• Understanding of communication protocols, networking and system integration
• Experience with real-time software, distributed systems or inter-process communication
• Exposure to GUI development, databases or software integration across hardware and software platforms

This is an immediate contract opportunity, with a target start date in October.
