96 would be keen to discuss this opportunity with interested, enthusiastic and development focused swim coaches. We are looking for an Assistant Head Coach to join the club and build on our achievements from the 24/25 season and support our Head Coach in delivering against our 3-year plan for the club. We are a large club of ~280 members, comprising five layers: performance squad, age group, junior development, skills and foundation squads, and a competitive masters squad of more than 60 athletes.
As Assistant Head Coach, your primary focus would be the Development & Inclusivity section of the club. In addition to coaching these squads, you will oversee other self‑employed/volunteer coaches in this section, supporting their development and attracting new coaching talent.
We are flexible in terms of the contract on offer and want to secure the right candidate to join the club, engage with the wider coaching team and deliver results in the 25/26 season and beyond.

ROLE SUMMARYAs REN
96’s Assistant Head Coach, you will work with the Head Coach to deliver the 3‑year plan, leading the initiative within the Development and Inclusivity (D&I) section of the club. You will coach squads within the D&I section, choosing areas where you can make the biggest impact, and lead the D&I coaching team to deliver a holistic, balanced and fun programme.
- Support the Head Coach in developing and delivering a three‑year and annual revision of a plan, for sharing and agreement with the Committee.
- Lead with purpose and by example to all swimmers and coaches.
- Provide quality coaching programmes to all athletes within the D&I section.
- Assist athletes to achieve their full potential.
- Lead and coordinate the D&I coaching team, and provide advice and support to assistant coaches and helpers.
- Ensure all squads have a suitably qualified coach.
- Establish a coaching development plan.
- Operate a sustainable coaching schedule that provides a work/life balance for the coaching team.
- Enable clear, progressive and accessible development paths for athletes and coaches of all abilities and give regular feedback on progression.
- Abide by and promote sound ethics and club policies;
Wellbeing & Protection, fair play and equal opportunities to all members. - Attend and supervise swimmers at competitions.
- Maintain links with Learn to Swim Programme to create a clear pathway to the club.
- Ensure D&I coaching team maintain accurate records of attendance, attainment and any other relevant documentation required.
- Complete any other activities deemed necessary to ensure the smooth running and successful improvement of the club.
- Attend relevant training and CPD as required.
- Devise squad plan(s) and deliver it poolside.
- Provide regular feedback to swimmers & parents.
- Attend swim meets as required.
- Experience motivating and coaching swimmers to achieve their full potential.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Efficient and effective time management.
- Appropriate level of technical knowledge.
- Ability to develop and implement development plans.
- Experience providing support to coaches and helpers.
- Focused on continuous improvement and self‑development.
- Innovative, flexible and having a sense of humour.
- PVG Scheme Membership.
- Member of Scottish Swimming.
- Sign and adhere to the Coach’s Code of Conduct.
- Scottish Swimming UKCC Level 2/SSCQ (minimum) or equivalent.
- Child Wellbeing & Protection in Sport (renewable every 3 years).
- Lifeguard Qualification (desirable but not essential).
