Job Description & How to Apply Below
Help People Move Toward Recovery—One Person at a Time Quinault Wellness Center (QWC) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) to join our outpatient Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) and integrated healthcare team. This is an opportunity to do meaningful work with individuals and families while helping build healthier, stronger lives through whole-person, culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.

As an SUDP, you will provide person-centered substance use disorder assessment, counseling, treatment planning, case management, care coordination, education, and recovery support. You will work with individuals with a range of substance use disorders, including patients receiving medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and those participating in counseling and other SUD services without MOUD.At QWC, we recognize that recovery is not one-size-fits-all.

Substance use does not exist in isolation—it can be connected to physical health, mental health, trauma, family, culture, housing, transportation, employment, and other life circumstances. You will have the opportunity to look beyond the diagnosis and understand the whole person, their strengths, their goals, and what matters to them.

You will build trusting therapeutic relationships and use trauma-informed, culturally responsive, person-centered, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based or evidence-informed approaches to help patients engage in treatment, overcome barriers, reduce harm, and achieve their individual recovery goals.

Job Functions:

Conduct and/or assist with comprehensive SUD assessments that identify patient needs, strengths, risks, goals, and barriers to care.

Develop, implement, review, and update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and the interdisciplinary care team.

Provide individual, group, family, educational, and recovery-focused counseling within your scope of practice.

Use motivational interviewing and other appropriate therapeutic approaches to encourage engagement and meaningful behavior change.

Help patients identify strengths, triggers, coping strategies, support systems, and resources that promote sustained recovery.

Provide education related to substance use, recovery, treatment options, harm reduction, overdose prevention, wellness, and community resources.

Support patients receiving MOUD while also providing comprehensive services to patients who are not receiving medication-based treatment.

Work closely with medical, nursing, behavioral health, peer support, care coordination, and other team members to promote integrated care.

Coordinate referrals and connections to primary care, mental health services, housing, transportation, employment, recovery programs, social services, and other community resources.

Participate in treatment team discussions, case consultation, discharge planning, and transitions between levels of care.

Recognize changes in patient condition, behavioral health concerns, withdrawal or intoxication concerns, safety risks, and other situations requiring additional support.

Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation consistent with training, policy, and scope of practice.

Support harm-reduction and overdose-prevention efforts, including education and access to appropriate resources.

Maintain accurate, timely, confidential clinical documentation and treatment records.

Participate in quality improvement, compliance, chart review, team meetings, continuing education, and professional development.

Contribute to an environment that promotes dignity, autonomy, cultural humility, respect, safety, recovery, and hope.

Most importantly, you will be part of a team that believes people are more than their substance use disorder. Your ability to listen, build trust, recognize strengths, and connect patients with the care and resources they need can make a lasting difference.

We are looking for an SUDP who combines strong clinical skills with compassion, curiosity, cultural humility, and a genuine commitment to helping people achieve their goals.

Required qualifications include:
