Polytunnel Manager

Salary: up to £45,000 + Rent-Free Accommodation
Are you an experienced horticultural supervisor or tunnel manager looking for your next step in a progressive fresh produce business?
I am representing a well-established, family-run soft fruit producer supplying premium berries to leading UK retailers. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Polytunnel Manager to oversee day-to-day tunnel operations at their Aberdeenshire site.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone open to relocating, with accommodation included as part of the package.
The Role
This is a hands-on management position responsible for the daily running of polytunnel operations across the site.
You will oversee crop performance, environmental controls, tunnel standards, and seasonal workforce coordination — ensuring productivity, quality, and compliance are consistently delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
Tunnel Operations
* Oversee the daily running of all polytunnels
* Monitor temperature, humidity, ventilation and irrigation systems
* Maintain tunnel structures and coordinate repairs when required
* Manage storm preparation and weather-related response
* Ensure tunnels remain clean, safe and audit-ready
* Proactively manage materials and operational requirements
Team Leadership
* Lead and coordinate seasonal tunnel teams
* Allocate daily/weekly tasks to maintain output and efficiency
* Train new starters on procedures and hygiene standards
* Monitor productivity and maintain high performance standards
* Promote a positive, safe and respectful working culture
Standards & Efficiency
* Maintain compliance with retailer and food safety standards
* Work collaboratively with Farm and Quality teams
* Identify opportunities to improve crop performance and reduce waste
* Support sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within horticulture, agriculture, or fresh produce
* Strong practical knowledge of polytunnel environments and irrigation systems
* Hands-on leadership style
* Organised, proactive and solutions-focused mindset
* Ability to manage teams during peak seasonal periods
* Full UK driving licence
The Package
* Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience
* Rent-free accommodation provided (choice of cottage or on-site caravan/wooden chalet)
