Description

With over 50 charity shops across England and Wales, our Abergavenny shop serves a vibrant local community. We need a part‑time Assistant Shop Manager to create a warm and welcoming shopping experience for visitors and donors. You will work with the Shop Manager and local community to drive sales, source quality fashion, accessories, and homeware from donations, and regenerate merchandise for a new home.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of volunteers, guiding and motivating them to deliver outstanding customer service.
  • Supporting recruitment, training and development of new volunteers.
  • Managing day‑to‑day shop operations, including cash handling, reconciliation and merchandising.
  • Planning and delivering flexible working patterns to cover weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Maintaining a strong relationship with local donors and building a solid customer base.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday 09:00 – 17:00, with variations weekly based on staff and volunteer availability. Flexibility to cover additional holiday and sickness cover is essential.

About you

  • Previous experience in a retail environment.
  • Cash handling and reconciliation experience.
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • Experience of providing great customer experience.
  • Computer and administration skills.

It would also be great if you had:

  • Experience managing volunteers.
