Our client is a unique community charity which also operates as a non-profit business and social enterprise. The organisation has a proud heritage and an ambitious future. As we continue to develop our commercial offer, strengthen our financial sustainability and expand our community impact, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the next stage of our journey.

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will provide overall operational leadership in all aspects of our Community and Commercial activities. Working closely with staff, partners, tenants, funders and stakeholders, you will be responsible for delivering the organisation's strategy, driving income growth via both external fundraising and commercial streams and ensuring the long-term sustainability of this vital community asset.

You will lead the development of new business opportunities while maximising income from external funders to maintain our ambitious community projects. By expanding our events, venue hire, catering and partnerships you will ensure the Institute continues to provide outstanding experiences for service users, customers, visitors and community groups. Alongside commercial growth, you will oversee day-to-day operations, facilities, financial performance and team development.

You will ensure the organisation aligns with its original charitable mission of serving the community, while operating efficiently, compliantly and in line with its charitable purpose.

We are looking for a commercially astute and inspirational leader with a successful track record of managing and growing organisations, services or venues. You will bring experience of business development,(within the private or voluntary sector) income generation and financial management, together with the ability to translate strategic priorities into practical actions and measurable results.

An excellent communicator and relationship builder, you will be confident working with Boards, stakeholders, partners and community organisations while leading and motivating a diverse team. You will combine strong commercial awareness with a genuine commitment to community impact and be comfortable operating in a pro-active environment where resourcefulness, resilience and initiative are essential.
