Job Title: Deputy Manager (Children & Young People)

Location: Abertillery, Blaenau Gwent, Wales

Salary: £40,192 per annum + overtime (average £3,000)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager (Children & Young People) to join a reputable provider of residential services in Abertillery, Wales. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team in delivering high-quality, child-centred care within a supportive and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the home and the well-being of children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Registered Manager in the operational management of the residential home, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager when required, including participating in an out-of-hours 'On-Call' rota.
  • Leading and motivating staff to deliver emotional and physical care, appropriate activities, and a comfortable home environment.
  • Promoting team development through mentoring, supervision, and fostering effective teamwork.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards for children's residential services in Wales.
  • Managing budgets, control systems, and administrative records in line with organisational policies.
  • Driving continuous improvement in service quality and outcomes for children and young people.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • A minimum of two years' experience in a senior or team-leading role within a children's residential setting.
  • Ideally hold QCF Level 4 in Children and Young People or be working towards it.
  • Proven ability to lead a team and manage a residential environment effectively.
  • Mandatory compliance with an Enhanced DBS Check and a Full UK Driving Licence.
