Job Overview
Hywel Dda Radiology is looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in breast radiology. Applicants should have experience in general radiology and symptomatic breast radiology. The Health Board offers an excellent opportunity to join a progressive team of 24 consultants and contribute to the ongoing development of radiological services within the Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Enquiries are also welcomed from those interested in a part‑time position or working exclusively in breast radiology. There is also potential for screening sessions within the Welsh Breast Screening Programme delivered by Breast Test Wales. The successful candidate will be based at Bronglais General Hospital, Ceredigion, with occasional travel to Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli and Withybush General Hospital, Pembrokeshire.
This new post based at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth joins one Consultant Breast Radiologist, one Speciality Grade Doctor and one Consultant Radiographer. The post holder should be competent in mammography reporting and breast and axillary ultrasound, and image‑guided biopsy of the breast and axilla. Desirable experience includes vacuum‑assisted biopsy or excision, pre‑operative localisation techniques, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, breast MRI reporting and contrast‑enhanced mammography.
The role involves undertaking symptomatic breast assessment clinics, active participation in the breast MDT and cross‑site collaboration via teleradiology and video conferencing. Office accommodation, secretarial support and full IT facilities are provided.
- Competent in mammography reporting, breast and axillary ultrasound, and image‑guided biopsy of the breast and axilla.
- Experience in vacuum‑assisted biopsy or excision, pre‑operative localisation techniques, Digital Breast Tomosynthesis, breast MRI reporting, and contrast‑enhanced mammography is desirable.
- Ability to perform symptomatic breast assessment clinics and participate in MDT meetings.
