Medical Device Coordinator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Device Coordinator within Hywel Dda University Health Board. The successful candidate would carry the responsibility for the departments accreditation to ISO 13485 and act as the Medical Device Safety Officer (MDSO) for Hywel Dda.

The successful candidates will be responsible for coordinating the medical device replacement projects via capital replacement and manage the configurations for applicable medical devices within the health board. These may develop over time based on the successful applicant's skills and experiences and the needs of the department.

Reporting to the Head of Clinical Engineering, the successful candidate would support the management and oversight for the lifecycle of the medical devices (circa 30,000 devices across the Health Board).

You will lead on the Quality Management System and Medical Device Safety, working with the wider Clinical Engineering teams across the 4 Acute sites within the Health Board, you would be responsible for ensuring that the policies and procedures that support our compliance and performance of medical devices are effective, to ensure we can provide the best quality of service we can for our patients.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

• Accredited degree relevant to the role (e.g., BSc in Audiology, Cardiac Physiology, Clinical Engineering, Neurophysiology, Medical Physics, Respiratory Physiology) and Registration with AHCS or RCT within 3 months of appointment. OR:
  Equivalent knowledge and experience at BSc level (with or without a related degree) and Progression through AHCS/RCT Practitioner Training Programme equivalence scheme (PTPE) and Registration within 24 months of appointment
• Masters level qualification or equivalent level of experience
• Knowledge of NHS medical device protocols and guidance as issued by MHRA and their applicability to front line use.
• Understand the fundamentals of good asset utilisation and its application to the field of medical devices.
• A thorough understanding of the role and its purpose within the organisation.
• Knowledge of NHS, WG and Health Board strategies, policies and plans including HR policies.
• Current knowledge of best practice gained through personal research.
• Knowledge of the duties imposed on the Health Board legislation, NHS policy and priorities, the requirements of corporate and clinical governance and of the inspection and regulation environment in which the Health Board operates
• Knowledge of how to deliver projects and in particular managing scope and delivering against agreed objectives to quality, cost and time.
