Registered Nurse Ophthalmology

Job Overview

We will only accept applications from staff currently employed by Hywel Dda University Health Board. An exciting opportunity to join the nursing team at Aberystwyth Eye Centre, Aberystwyth, as a Staff Nurse Band 5. The unit supports ophthalmic outpatient clinics, intravitreal service, and nurse‑led pre‑assessment clinics.

This part‑time vacancy is Monday‑Friday. Interviews will be held on 01/07/2026.

• Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based nursing care to meet the needs of patients and families within the ophthalmic department.
• Undertake training and achieve clinical device competencies for the ophthalmic equipment in the department.
• Work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team and undertake duties without direct supervision.
• Maintain high standards of patient care using evidence based practice within an ophthalmic setting.
• Undertake specific ophthalmology investigations once competency achieved.
• Assist in the clean room during intravitreal sessions.
• Carry out phone and pre‑operative assessments for patients listed for ophthalmic surgery.
• Provide nursing support for emergency and general ophthalmology clinics.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable;
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
