Aberystwyth Hours of work: 6 hours per week Rate of pay £14.50 per hour.
Role
Purpose:
I would like to be able to go out for a walk, maybe in my wheelchair to town. I have not been out for a very long time. To provide companionship and social support to me, helping to reduce loneliness and social isolation, improve emotional wellbeing, and support me to engage in activities of my choice. I have 2 dogs, but they are always away in their cage when visitors come.
- Provide companionship and meaningful social interaction.
- Engage in conversation and shared activities based on my interests.
- Offer emotional reassurance and encouragement.
- Support to build confidence and maintain social connections.
- Accompany and assist to access community activities and appointments where appropriate.
- Support safe community engagement in line with the lady’s needs and preferences.
- Promote independence, choice, dignity, and wellbeing.
- Maintain appropriate records and communicate any concerns to the managed account provider or relevant professionals.
- Kind, patient, and reliable.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of the impact of disability, sensory impairment, and anxiety on daily life.
- Ability to provide person-centred support.
- Respectful of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Previous experience in care, support work, or a similar role is not essential.
This vacancy is being advertised on behalf of an individual employer. You will be employed by that individual and not Ceredigion County Council.
This appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check, which will incur no cost to the applicant. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided.
You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment.
You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
You will be an employee of the Direct Payment Recipient and not of Ceredigion County Council.
