We are looking for a kind, reliable, and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support a friendly and easy‑going 32‑year‑old man with learning disabilities. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in his life, supporting him to build confidence, develop independence, and enjoy the activities he loves.
He enjoys football, theatre, cinema, gaming, and walks (especially if there's a pub stop along the way!). He is keen to try new experiences and would love someone who can encourage and share in these moments.
Responsibilities- Provide supportive companionship and encouragement
- Help build confidence and independence in daily life
- Support access to social and leisure activities
- Assist with developing practical life skills such as using public transport and accessing services
- Encourage participation in hobbies and new interests
- Prompt with meals and hydration when needed
- Support with ordering food and drinks when out
- Communicate effectively with family and care team to ensure consistent support
- Keep family/support team informed of activities and any concerns
- Always ensure safety and wellbeing
- Work on weekends, including football activities
- Friendly, physically fit and active, with a good sense of humour
- Willing to join in when necessary
- Caring, patient, respectful
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs
- Use initiative and work independently
- Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills
- Build a supportive relationship without being overbearing
- Committed to privacy and confidentiality
- Full, clean driving licence
- Access to own vehicle with business insurance
- Two satisfactory references upon employer request
- Passes enhanced DBS check
The appointment is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months. Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4‑weekly basis once a valid National Insurance number has been provided. Eligible for statutory annual leave and other statutory entitlements as set out in the contract. A Personal Assistants Handbook will be issued upon commencement.
Mandatory training relevant to the post will be required; the cost of training will be covered by direct payment.
