Demolition of Building 6119 (Thrift Shop)

Location:

Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas
Scope:
Complete demolition of a ~2,892 sq. ft. single‑story facility. Includes removal of all foundations, footings, and piers to a depth of 3 feet below grade. The site must then be backfilled with select fill, compacted, graded for drainage, and seeded.

• Inspection & Reporting:
  Perform a pre‑construction site visit to assess soil conditions. Perform periodic site visits throughout the demolition and backfill process to inspect excavations and soil/groundwater conditions. Submit a written monthly report to the Contracting Officer certifying the status of the excavation and adherence to safety plans.
• Excavation & Safety Plans:
  Review and update the Excavation, Sheeting, and Dewatering Plans as construction progresses. If shoring/sheeting is required (e.g., for deep removal of piers), certify the drawings and calculations.
• Material Testing & Approval:
  Coordinate Borrow Site Testing. The spec requires chemical testing (TPH, BTEX, TCLP) for any soil brought from off‑site to ensure it is contaminant‑free. Verify compaction requirements (95% ASTM D 1557) for the backfill of the foundation void.
• Qualification Requirement:
  Must hold a current Texas P.E. License. Must include a resume/CV in our proposal demonstrating experience with excavation, shoring, and soil mechanics.
