Texas Country/Rock PM Drive Host - 101.7 The Patriot - PT/Contract

t's time. I've had getting hosts at least M-F AM and PM drive on the Patriot cycling back to the front of my mind repeatedly for several months. The Patriot needs to be a jukebox (albeit a very INTENTIONALLY programmed jukebox) no longer.

I've selected Outlaw Dave Andrews of Houston to handle on-air breaks for AM drive. The community will love him. He's FUNNY, tight, concise, and exactly the right personality for what you'd expect the average Patriot listener and DJ looks and sounds like.

We've decided for the hyper locally focused timeslot on The Patriot to be PM drive. This also keeps the local shows on The Raider and The Patriot from conflict as the Raider currently has that for morning drive and middays.

Limited budget. Negotiable. Live is paid hourly, rate discussed in private. Ability to be involved in person for station events (remotes, concert/festival coverage, non profit promotion) will be a strongly favored advantage.

This is intended to be a personality driven role with strong community presence and branding, focused primarily on our music and community. This is not the right fit for someone that wants to do nothing but four minute talk bits on trends and nothing.

The format is 50% Texas Country, 30-35% mainstream and classic rock, 15-25% 80s/90s Prime Country, and approximately 5-10% Americana.

It could be a personality that presents as level-headed rock, prime country, or Texas/Red Dirt rock-inspired country (preferred). Energetic presentation with a voice that doesn't sound muffled or checked out is an essential qualification. This is NOT the place for either a shock jock or a bubbly, giggling modern Nashville pop country "presenter."

We have some leads, but are ready to begin a formal decision process. Let's visit. Send me an email explaining why you fit this description and why you want to do afternoon drive on The Patriot specifically. Don't need a resume, but you can send one. Some of the folks that are coming to mind as prospects for this have NO radio background.

If you don't have an aircheck, throw together a clip for me with a talkover between two songs you might hear on The Patriot of anything you think would engage the audience, a second short bit like this that's a tease for an upcoming segment if your first clip WASN't one, and a 60-90 second or so full break either relevant to the music with a "now" tie-in, or something community related or a current happening with an Abilene/big Country tie in.

It doesn't have to be radio polished, but you need to sound good.

The Patriot reports to T3R, TCMA, CDX, and AMA, and is growing quickly in respect and recognition both with the listening audience and the Texas Country artists & music professionals community. It has its own fully-appointed, Tatro-built, AoIP air studio and is ready to go. It will be a good place to be.

Future opportunities might exist for our other outlets, including the sports station and The Raider, if the new personality fits well and grows quickly.
