Orthopedic Surgeon (MD/DO)
Position Summary
The Orthopedic Surgeon provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for patients with musculoskeletal conditions. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, operative and perioperative management of injuries and disorders involving bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Evaluate and manage patients with musculoskeletal injuries and disorders
- Diagnose and treat conditions involving bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, and tendons
- Perform orthopedic surgical procedures consistent with training and privileges
- Provide non-operative management, including injections, bracing, and rehabilitation planning
- Manage perioperative and postoperative care, including complications and recovery
- Participate in emergency and on-call coverage as required
- Collaborate with primary care, sports medicine, physical therapy, anesthesia, and other specialists
- Interpret diagnostic studies including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and other imaging
- Educate patients regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, and recovery plans
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
- Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or trainees as applicable
- Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited orthopedic surgery residency program
- Fellowship training in an orthopedic subspecialty preferred but not required
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery
- Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
- DEA registration or eligibility
- Advanced orthopedic surgical and clinical skills
- Strong clinical judgment and technical expertise
- Ability to manage acute injuries and complex surgical cases
- Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities
- Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality care, and patient safety
- Hospital operating rooms, outpatient clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and inpatient units
- Call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina for operative cases
- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for operative and clinical care
Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.
