Abilene Wylie ISD is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Assistant Band Director for West Middle School. This part‑time position offers the opportunity to work with a strong, well‑established band program and a supportive fine arts community that values musical excellence and student growth.
Position Overview- Assist with the Wylie High School Band and Non‑Varsity Middle School Band.
- Teach three beginner band classes at West Middle School.
- Collaborate with the middle school and high school band staff to plan and implement rehearsals, performances, and events.
- Support the vision and goals of the Wylie ISD band program while fostering a positive and engaging learning environment.
Part‑time: 5 teaching periods per day.
Potential to transition to a full‑time position beginning in the 2026–2027 school year, depending on program needs and enrollment growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (required).
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with appropriate music certification (or eligibility for Texas certification).
- Strong background in instrumental music education, including experience with beginner and intermediate band students.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to student success, musical achievement, and professional growth.
- Highly supportive administration and community that values fine arts.
