Electrical Field Service Technician - Jenbacher Engines

Overview

Electrical Field Service Technician for Jenbacher Engines in the U.S. This role performs electrical and some mechanical hands-on field service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines, including commissioning, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and minor overhaul. Engines range from 0.25 to 9.5 MW and run on natural gas or other gases (e.g., biogas, landfill gas, coal mine gas, sewage gas, combustible industrial waste gases).

• Execute service hands-on activities in compliance with the engine maintenance protocol, including replacing filters and other components, performing mechanical and electrical inspections, measurements, and related tasks.
• Carry out minor repairs on the engine in addition to planned service.
• Perform troubleshooting with an analytical mindset and propose solutions aligned to Jenbacher. Understand electrical/mechanical failures of the engine/alternator, as well as electronic failures related to control systems. Interpret historical data parameters of the engine.
• Manage and work with third-party suppliers when needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues, subcontractors, and customer personnel in a healthy environment, as a team member or leader as situations require, with a team of technicians or independently.
• Provide information about planned services and progress updates of maintenance.
• Own assigned sites and customers, proactively seeking to maximize engine reliability.
• Create technical reports detailing visit reasons, actions performed, results, material usage, and follow-up recommendations.
• Maintain a basic set of tools and critical spare parts for covered engines, ensure vehicle condition and availability, and keep them approved, clean, and stored properly.
• Process timesheets, expense reports, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) forms, and job reports in a timely manner.
• Comply with all EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive work site.

• Prior Field Technician experience such as automotive, power generation, heavy equipment, or diesel engines.
• Ability to crouch, twist, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended periods.
• Strong electrical knowledge/electrician skills, including wiring panels and alternators.
• Experience interpreting wiring diagrams, interphase, and mechanical drawings.
• Programmable logic controller (PLC) knowledge.
• Troubleshooting skills with an analytical mindset.
• Legal permit to work in the United States.
• Ability to travel, including some overnight travel.

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability and willingness to work remotely, as required.

• Ability to meet and maintain insurability standards to drive a company vehicle when needed.

• Familiar with Jenbacher gas engines/natural gas engines/reciprocating engines.
• Experience in power generation applications.

• Good computer skills, office proficiency, and logic controls software.
