WBOY is looking for a Broadcast Engineer to join the team at north central West Virginia's top-rated TV station. Compensation package will be based on experience.
Duties include:
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all broadcast technology and equipment at the station and transmitter sites.
- Ensure station compliance with FCC rules and regulations, as well as local, state, and federal laws.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and maintaining technical infrastructure, including new technologies.
- Assist with coordinating fiber connectivity, production setups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems, and editing systems.
- Evaluate, install, and maintain IT systems critical to station operations, including media workflows.
- Assist with the oversight and maintenance the station's building infrastructure and vehicle fleet, including satellite and ENG trucks.
- Ensure redundancy and reliability in critical systems for uninterrupted on-air operations.
- Serve as an operational and technical resource to station staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills:
- Technical degree in Digital Electronics, Broadcasting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Experience with digital electronics systems in a television broadcasting environment
- Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
- Strong PC/Microsoft Office experience
- Experience with fiber connectivity, production setups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment, graphics systems and editing systems
- Experience with digital transmitters, microwave equipment, and other broadcast‑related equipment
- Experience evaluating, selecting, installing, servicing and maintaining broadcasting industry equipment and information technology systems
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
