We are seeking a Field Inspector II – Fire Protection to conduct detailed inspections, verification, and documentation of fire protection and life safety systems. This role requires hands‑on experience with sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, alarm, and detection systems
, as well as strong working knowledge of NFPA standards. The position functionally reports to the QC Engineer and administratively to the Trade Team Lead, ensuring full alignment between project execution and quality assurance.
- Perform independent inspections of fire sprinkler, standpipe, fire pump, hydrant, and alarm systems to ensure compliance with NFPA, project specifications, and approved drawings.
- Review IFC and shop drawings, material submittals, and hydraulic calculations to verify system design and installation accuracy.
- Enforce adherence to NFPA 13, 14, 20, 25, and 72, as well as applicable NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 101 (Life Safety Code) standards.
- Witness and document hydrostatic, flow, pump acceptance, and alarm activation tests, ensuring results are within design parameters.
- Inspect fire pump controllers, jockey pumps, alarm panels, detectors, and notification devices for correct installation, labeling, and operation.
- Verify UL/FM‑listed materials and equipment are installed per manufacturer recommendations and project requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive inspection reports, NCRs, CARs, ITP records, and daily logs for traceability and quality control.
- Support and participate in integrated testing and commissioning (ITC) with mechanical, electrical, and life safety teams.
- Review and endorse as‑built documentation, ensuring alignment with installed systems and client specifications.
- Provide guidance to Field Inspector I staff and coordinate with the QA/QC Engineer for third‑party and AHJ inspections.
- Ensure all inspection and testing activities comply with OSHA safety and site‑specific fire protection safety requirements.
- Bachelor's Degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical diploma.
- 3–7 years of experience in fire protection inspection or QA/QC for large‑scale building or infrastructure projects.
- Working knowledge of NFPA standards (13, 14, 20, 25, 72) and relevant fire protection design and installation codes.
- Familiarity with wet, dry, pre‑action, deluge, and clean agent systems, as well as fire alarm and detection components.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Physically fit for field inspections, including working at height, in ceiling spaces, and in active construction environments.
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety credential.
- NICET Level II or III certification in Fire Protection or Fire Alarm Systems (or equivalent qualification).
- Experience supporting or leading fire system commissioning and acceptance testing.
- Familiarity with AHJ inspection coordination, witness testing, and test documentation.
- Proven ability to manage NCR tracking, punch list closure, and ITP execution independently.
