Lead Mechanical Engineer / Advanced Technology / Abilene, TX

A pioneering company based in Abilene, TX is seeking a highly driven Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, integration, and testing of advanced mechanical systems for next-generation technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test high-performance mechanical systems for advanced applications
• Own the complete engineering lifecycle of structural and thermal components, from concept through manufacturing and validation
• Conduct detailed thermal, mechanical, and structural analysis using hand calculations and simulation tools
• Perform system trade studies to balance performance, cost, safety, and reliability
• Develop test procedures, manufacturing documentation, and assembly instructions
• Manage supplier coordination and ensure timely delivery of critical components
• Create and maintain a comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Lead subsystem risk assessments, including FMEA and failure analysis
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with broader system architecture

Experience Required:

• 10+ years of mechanical design and engineering experience, ideally in high-performance or safety-critical environments
• Expertise in high-temperature, high-pressure systems and components used in energy or industrial applications
• Hands-on experience with component design, fabrication, and system-level testing
• Strong analytical foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and structural analysis
• Proficiency in CAD and simulation tools (e.g., Solid Works, ANSYS, COMSOL)
• Excellent communication and documentation skills for team-based collaboration

Qualifications:

• B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
