Data Center Commissioning Project Manager (Lead Mechanical) – TX / Remote

This is strictly a building engineering position focused on data center commissioning of mechanical systems and facility operations.

Data Center Commissioning Project Manager (Lead Mechanical) – Full‑time – Remote/Travel. Base salary $135 000 to $165 000 (total compensation $160 000 to $190 000).
The successful candidate is self‑motivated and well‑versed in data center projects covering large building MEP systems design, commissioning, retro‑commissioning, energy modeling/analysis, and construction for complex buildings. Assessment, optimization, and commissioning activities for utility plants will also be expected. The role includes construction observations, review of contract documents, development of functional test plans, and execution of tests for a wide variety of mechanical and controls systems.
The candidate will also execute retro‑commissioning engineering/energy studies and contribute to design and energy projects for national industrial, institutional, and commercial clients. This role is tasked with assisting in managing small to large data center projects to meet client expectations for technical excellence, budget, and schedule.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- At least 4 years of specific data center commissioning experience (electrical/mechanical)
- Experience with project management – scheduling, coordinating with staff & contractors, verifying field quality, and working under pressure
- Technical mechanical expertise
- Available to be on‑site 60%–70%
- Experience managing staff
- Experience diagnosing and solving construction and operational problems
- Experience managing commissioning project resources to pre‑determined scope, fee, and schedule
- Knowledge of building codes, construction industry standards such as ASHRAE and LEED
- Effective leadership and written/verbal communication skills
- PE, CBCP, BCxP, CEM, CCP, CxA are a plus
