Job Summary

The Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) is responsible for facilitating the operative or other invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment. CSTs maintain the sterile field while anticipating and responding to the needs of the surgical team. Functions as a medical assistant within the clinics.

  • Thorough knowledge of surgical processes
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
  • Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families
  • Skill in performing surgical technician and medical assistant tasks appropriately
  • Skill, tact, and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care and surgical procedures
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image
