Overview

Maryland Oncology Hematology is looking for a Patient Services Coordinator to join the team at Texas Oncology
. This part‑time position will support the Revenue Cycle Department at our 1957 Antilley Road clinic in Abilene, Texas. Typical work week:
Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The role can be level 1, 2, or Sr based on relevant work experience.

What does the Patient Services Coordinator do?

The Patient Service Coordinator warmly greets patients and their family, registers and schedules appointments efficiently, and manages incoming calls, ensuring messages are relayed accurately. He/she supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, Code of Ethics, Business Standards, and Shared Values.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients and visitors promptly, check them in, and inform clinical staff of arrival.
  • Provide and explain pre‑examination paperwork, collect, proof, and file forms, update demographics and insurance data, and collect co‑pays and balances.
  • Answer, screen, and route calls, take thorough messages, and page clinic personnel as needed.
  • Check patients out after examination and schedule returning appointments per physician guidelines.
  • Record cancellations and missed appointments, reschedule, and notify staff.
  • File charts, maintain the lobby area neatly, and keep office supplies in stock.
  • Adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations regarding patient records.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including typing memos.
Qualifications (Level 1)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Some receptionist or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) required.
  • Must complete required e‑learning courses within 90 days of start.
Level 2 (includes Level 1)
  • At least 18 months front‑medical office receptionist experience with insurance forms and scheduling software required.
  • Knowledge of practice personnel, daily routines, and scheduling a plus.
Level Sr (includes Levels 1 & 2)
  • At least 5 years front‑medical office receptionist experience with insurance forms and scheduling software required.
Physical Demands

Employee regularly required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, occasionally stand, walk, and reach. Must occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Requires vision and hearing corrected to normal ranges. Accommodations may be made as needed.
