American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of general ICU experience and TX or compact RN licensure.
Details- General ICU setting treating a mix of surgical, medical, CVICU, and neuro ICU patients
- 1:2 patient ratio
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- May be required to float to other campuses or units
- Active RN license (TX or compact) in hand required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; TNCC preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent permanent ICU experience required (new grads with 1 year ICU plus travel experience do not qualify)
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Altera charting system experience preferred but not required
- Experience with IV therapy, central/arterial/PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Skilled in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory therapies including BiPAP/CPAP and HFNC
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and administering continuous IV sedation and paralytics
- Neurological care skills including EVD, ICP monitoring, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery management
- Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia management and Flo Trac/Vigileo monitoring
- Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Knowledge of IV insulin protocols and infection prevention/isolation precautions
- Provide direct patient care across a mixed general ICU population including surgical, medical, cardiovascular, and neuro cases
- Must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a completion plan in place
- Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing; any positive result results in automatic cancellation
- Candidates should avoid any substances, including CBD products, that could result in a positive drug screen
- Must reside 150 miles or more from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
- Previous permanent staff must have a 1-year gap in employment before returning as a travelers
- Travel experience is preferred for this role
