Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Med-Tele
Location: Abilene, TX 79601
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM); every other weekend required (12 weekend shifts per contract). Block scheduling is not available.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- Travel experience strongly preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Certifications: BLS and NIHSS
- Active RN license required at submission
- Allscripts/Altera charting experience preferred
- Experience with orthopedic and general surgery patients preferred
- Must be comfortable floating to similar units and potentially a sister campus
- Patient ratio: 1:5
- Patient population:
Adults and geriatrics - Local candidates are not accepted; RN candidates within a 150-mile radius are not eligible
- Previous permanent employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as travelers
Description:
Hendrick Medical Center is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical RN for its 4E Med-Tele unit. The unit primarily cares for medical and surgical patients who do not require telemetry monitoring, with a strong focus on orthopedic and general surgery cases. The unit has 34 beds and an average daily census of 20 patients.
The RN will provide care to adult and geriatric patients, manage IV therapy and medications, perform wound care, and support patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. Floating to similar units and potentially to a sister campus is required. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, phlebotomy, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and other support services.
