American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatrics Med-Surg position requiring 3+ years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

• Pediatric Med Surg unit within a hospital setting
• 1:4 patient ratios
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7p-7a)
• Every other weekend required
• Float to NICU required, with potential float to other units or campuses
• Uses Allscripts charting system
• Navy scrub color requirement

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and PALS certification required (CPHON, NRP, and OCN preferred)
• Minimum 3 years of pediatric RN experience required
• Previous charge nurse experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Experience with Altera charting system preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience administering blood products, chemotherapy, and TPN/lipids
• Competency in pediatric dosage calculations and anti-seizure medication administration
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, oxygen delivery, and tracheostomy management
• Skilled in wound care, isolation precautions, and indwelling catheter management
• Experience interpreting and managing cardiac dysrhythmias
• Familiarity with Pediatric Early Warning Score (PEWS) and rapid response protocols

• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients on a medical-surgical unit
• Perform oncology-related care including chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and NG tube insertion/management
• Support breastfeeding and infant feeding needs including gavage feeding
• Manage insulin administration and insulin pump care
• Must live 150+ miles from the facility to be considered for this position
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Previous perm staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing, upon arrival
