The Natura Resources team is seeking a qualified Quality Engineer to support the quality goals of the Natura MSR-1 demonstration at Abilene Christian University (ACU) and Natura’s commercial liquid-fueled molten salt reactors. Natura Resources is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the quality goals of the Natura MSR-1 demonstration at ACU and Natura’s commercial liquid-fuel molten salt reactors. As a performance oriented advanced reactor developer, Natura provides an opportunity for the selected individual to grow tremendously in skill and responsibility.

A well-qualified individual for this position will be able to work alongside the highly motivated team in the Natura Resources Research Alliance and execute planned and systematic activities implemented in a quality system so that quality requirements for a product or services will be fulfilled.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Developing planning processes and procedures to ensure that research projects, products to be manufactured and services delivered will be of good quality.
  • Defining the standards and methodology to be followed to meet the customer requirements. "Fit for purpose".
  • Monitoring the development process throughout its entire cycle, comparing the results with the processes and standards defined in the organization and making sure the right things are done, the right way, the first time.

I. Basic Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report Supplier Performance (delivery, quality, capability)
  • Manage and audit Supplier nonconformances
  • Coordinate quality plan for New Programs and Product changes
  • Continuous Improvement team leader or member as required
  • Corrective and Preventive Action for Customer, Supplier, and Production.
  • Ensuring that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented, and maintained.
  • Reporting to the Quality Manager on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement.
  • Ensuring the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
  • Internal Auditor as required.
  • Development of Control Plan and PFMEA, including Receiving Control Plan
  • Completes special assignments or projects established to achieve “Continuous Quality improvement”.
  • Monitor ongoing research project assembly and testing
  • Responsible for conducting capability studies, collecting variable data, input of data in computer software, and interpretation of results.
  • Participate in Kaizen teams as directed and focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that proper work instructions exist for Receiving Inspectors
  • Responsible for doing layout inspections as required.
  • Must be able to conduct audits at the Supplier's location and internally as required.
  • Ensure that proper gages and fixtures exist for Receiving Inspection, process, and Final Inspection.

    Knowledge of gage reproducibility and repeatability studies is a must.

II. Authority

  • Will inform Suppliers of defects and request corrective action
  • Has the authority to hold Customer/Supplier partnership meetings as required
  • Ensures that rejection notices are sent to suppliers and that non-conforming product is returned promptly
  • Has the authority to reject non-conforming deliverables
  • Stop the production process for quality-related issues.
  • Keep the Quality Manager informed of quality-related issues and quality trends.

III.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a physical science or engineering.
  • Minimum two years experience in a quality-related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a Quality Engineer role.
  • Ability to operate test equipment (i.e., caliper, micrometer and gauge blocks).
  • Proficient with MS Office applications for word processing and spreadsheet development.
  • Experience with statistical software such as Minitab is preferred.
  • Superior verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and present information to suppliers, management, employees, and corporate personnel.

IV. Physical Demands:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; and talk and hear.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must also be able to discern various shades of color for all materials.
  • The ability to handle high volume and high-speed demands and the stress associated.
