Field Service Technician - Jenbacher Engines

This field role involves commissioning as well as mechanical and/or electrical hands-on field service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines, including troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and minor overhaul. Engines in this role range from 0.25 to 9.5 MW and can run on natural gas or various other gases (e.g., biogas, landfill gas, coal mine gas, sewage gas, combustible industrial waste gases).

• Execute service on the engines in compliance with the maintenance protocol, including checking oil, replacing filters and valves, and performing diverse measurements.
• Carry out minor repairs on the engine in addition to planned service.
• Execute major service on the engine in collaboration with colleagues in accordance with the protocol for major service.
• Coordinate tasks with external suppliers who provide specialist duties.
• Monitor maintenance activities in compliance with the EHS protocol.
• Analyze failures in the areas of mechanics, electronics, and associated software systems; check historical data of the engine.
• Troubleshoot engines in electronics and mechanics.
• Create site visit reports detailing reason for visit, symptoms, actions, materials used, hours, results, and any follow-up actions.
• Create reports on common faults and describe background information on these faults.
• Ensure a basic set of spare parts are available in the service vehicle, ensure materials are approved, and maintain a clean working environment.
• Work effectively as part of a team of technicians or independently.
• Process timesheets, expense reports, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) forms, and job reports in a timely manner.
• Comply with all EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive work site.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• 4 years of reciprocating engine experience preferred.
• Commissioning experience preferred.
• Experience as a car mechanic or car electrician, and electrician.
• Mechanical Technician or higher.
• Electrical Technician or higher.
• Willingness for on-call rotation once trained.
• Living or willing to relocate to the Abilene, TX area.

• Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
• Possess a valid driver’s license.
• Ability and willingness to work remotely, as required.

• Ability to meet and maintain insurability standards to drive a company vehicle when needed.

• Familiar with or qualified to work with Jenbacher reciprocating gas/diesel engines, Series 6 preferred.
• Able to understand and implement technical procedures.

• Strong customer focus and ability to interact with customers.
• Strong computer skills and PLC knowledge.
