Diesel Technician – Ryder Supply Chain Solutions

Location:

Abilene, Texas

Position Description

Immediately hiring a permanent full-time, experienced mid-level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Abilene, Texas.

Compensation & Schedule
  • Hourly Pay: $22.85 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter
  • Schedule:

    Tuesday – Saturday
  • Hours:

    First Shift Tuesday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm;
    Saturday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
Responsibilities
  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Performs standard vehicle maintenance
  • Performs standard component inspections and repairs
  • Performs preventive maintenance
  • Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
  • Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required
  • Replaces defective components as instructed
  • Performs facility maintenance duties
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint
  • Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT, and related guidelines
  • Performs other support duties as required to support operations
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational/Technical Certification or post-secondary degree preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine maintenance
  • Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check for the last 3 years

Important Note: Some positions require additional screening such as employment/education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer-specific requirements.
