Overview
Diesel Technician – Ryder Supply Chain Solutions
Location:
Abilene, Texas
Immediately hiring a permanent full-time, experienced mid-level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Abilene, Texas.
Compensation & Schedule- Hourly Pay: $22.85 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter
- Schedule:
Tuesday – Saturday - Hours:
First Shift Tuesday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm;
Saturday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
- Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
- Performs standard vehicle maintenance
- Performs standard component inspections and repairs
- Performs preventive maintenance
- Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and performs repairs as required
- Replaces defective components as instructed
- Performs facility maintenance duties
- Interacts with customers/drivers to determine the nature of the complaint
- Utilizes Shop Management System and electronic documentation
- Works in accordance with safety, DOT, MOT, and related guidelines
- Performs other support duties as required to support operations
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational/Technical Certification or post-secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including routine maintenance
- Two (2) years or more of classroom training and work experience, preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A, preferred
- Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, and background check for the last 3 years
Important Note: Some positions require additional screening such as employment/education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer-specific requirements.
