We are seeking a skilled Cable Splicer to join our team in support of a mission‑critical Data Center client
. This role involves installing, splicing, testing, and maintaining copper and fiber optic cables to ensure optimal connectivity and performance within a high‑availability environment.
Hours:
Six days a week - Two shifts available (6:00 AM–6:00 PM and 6:00 PM–6:00 AM) – must be able to work either shift
Weekly direct deposit, OT = 1.5x pay rate after 40 hours worked.
Duration: 3 months with possible extension
Key Responsibilities- Perform fiber and copper splicing using fusion splicers, ribbonizers, cleavers, and heaters.
- Install, terminate, and test CAT5e/CAT6 copper cables and LC/MTP/MPO fiber optics
. - Read and interpret blueprints, port maps, and wiring diagrams for accurate cable routing.
- Conduct signal testing and troubleshooting using electrical test instruments and OTDR.
- Maintain structured cabling pathways, trays, and patch panels in compliance with industry standards.
- Execute commissioning and decommissioning of cabling infrastructure in the data center.
- Label and document all splices and terminations for audit and compliance purposes.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with client and OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and technicians to meet deadlines and quality benchmarks.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in fiber and copper splicing (single strand and ribbon).
- Ability to work with fusion splicing equipment (e.g., Fujikura 90R/90S).
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and cabling standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and prints
. - Familiarity with signal level meters
, OTDR, and cable certification tools. - Physical ability to work in confined spaces, lift up to 50 lbs, and climb ladders.
- Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Certifications
: OSHA 10/30, Aerial/Scissor Lift preferred.
- Previous work in data center environments
. - Knowledge of network hardware installation (switches, PDUs, racks).
- Experience with structured cabling projects and port mapping
