Position: Child Advocacy Center - Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator I

Child Advocacy Center - Multidisciplinary Team Coordinator I (City of Abilene, Texas)

Under general direction, facilitate the coordination of Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and Care Coordination Team (CCT) services for children and nonoffending caregivers involved in child abuse investigations. Cultivate and strengthen professional relationships with all partner agencies, review data, analyze gaps in service, and create solutions to ensure all child victims receive appropriate services.

Responsibilities
  • Review Statewide Intake Reports, determine if cases meet criteria for services, and coordinate scheduling with partner agencies.
  • Analyze case tracking data, identify gaps, and create solutions to ensure all children receive appropriate services.
  • Provide training to MDT members on CAC model, working protocols, joint investigations, and MDT process.
  • Facilitate MDT case review meetings and CCT service provision meetings, enter documentation in case tracking system, and follow‑up on unresolved issues.
  • Respond to community inquiries, provide awareness and prevention presentations, and manage donations.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with partner agencies, organize team development activities, and engage in protocol revision as needed.
  • Assist with grant applications and reporting.
  • Drive a personal vehicle for local training, activities, and meetings; drive a rental vehicle for out‑of‑town training and meetings.
  • Provide advocacy services and respond after hours for emergency cases as needed.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers, and thoroughly document all work in a timely manner.
  • Present information and participate in CAC Board meetings; oversee CAC operations and staff as needed.
  • Assist with site visits, accreditation process, and lead protocol revision meetings.
  • Perform other job‑related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of MDT Coordinator roles, CAC model, interagency partners, laws and statutes related to child abuse and joint investigations, grant applications, reports, and accreditation processes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, active listening, detail orientation, and accurate documentation.
  • Proficient use of Google Suite, computer skills, office equipment, and ability to facilitate professional meetings and conduct group presentations.
  • Ability to manage high‑stress situations, think critically, and resolve problems.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and cultural awareness; adapt positively to change and manage significant emotional stress.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with reliable documentation and meeting deadlines.
  • Capable of establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships internally and externally and treating all with dignity and respect.
Experience and Training Requirements
  • Three (3) years of social service experience (including one (1) year with a Child Advocacy Center preferred) for MDT Coordinator I.
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
  • A valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 90 days (or military waiver).
  • MDT Coordinator II requires six (6) years of experience as an MDT Coordinator with a CAC, the same bachelor’s degree, and completion of required training: 40 hours in basic victim advocacy, 24 hours in MDT Coordination, 16 hours in leadership, and 8 hours in Semi‑Structured Narrative Process and forensic interviewing.
Special Requirements
  • Available after‑hours to respond to CAC emergency cases.
  • Pass an FBI background check, Department of Family and Protective Services background check, and a sex offender registration check.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds (medium strength demand) with tasks including standing, walking, lifting etc. as described.
