The Vehicle Driver operates and maintains the motor vehicles on location, transporting cargo and passengers on short and long-distance trips. This includes transporting the food carts to the units promptly and in a sanitary manner to the correct location. Assumes the duties of a food service worker when short staffed or assigned. Has no supervisory or financial responsibilities but is accountable for assigned vehicles, preparing and maintaining forms or records pertaining to vehicle operations and ensuring vehicles are scheduled for general maintenance.

This person works under the general supervision of a Food Service Manager, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Operates motor vehicles such as vans and trucks and transports passengers, cargo, and food carts. Physical requirements of long standing, carrying, pushing and lifting of items more than 40 lbs. Able to drive state vehicle with delivery trailer attached.

Prepares and maintains records and logs related to vehicle operations. Ability to understand and to comply with written and oral instructions. Has ability to do simple mathematic calculation.
