Salary: £28.62 - £37.08 per hour

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week

Working Pattern: Weekdays, with teaching hours between 09:00 and 17:00

Location: Abingdon Campus

Contract Type: Fixed term until September 2027

Due to continued growth and expansion within our English & Maths provision, we are looking to appoint an exceptional GCSE English Lecturer to join our ambitious and high-performing team. With increasing student numbers and a strong commitment to helping every learner succeed, this is an exciting opportunity for a creative and innovative teacher to make a real difference. What

You'll Be Doing
  • Deliver engaging, high-quality GCSE English Language lessons that inspire and challenge learners.
  • Create innovative and creative learning experiences that bring language and literature to life.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to engage learners with different starting points and needs.
  • Support students to develop confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking.
  • Monitor progress and provide meaningful feedback that helps learners improve and achieve.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage resilience, motivation, and success.
  • Deliver tutorial and pastoral support that promotes student wellbeing and achievement.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and ambitious learning culture.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop exciting resources and share outstanding practice.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
  • Has a genuine passion for English and the ability to inspire others.
  • Is a creative practitioner who isn't afraid to think differently and try new approaches.
  • Can engage and motivate learners who may have had challenging experiences of English in the past.
  • Understands how to make English relevant, accessible, and enjoyable.
  • Has experience teaching GCSE English Language, ideally within a post-16 setting.
  • Has excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Any successful candidates will be required to complete a structured training pathway, unless they already hold the relevant qualifications. This includes a two-week teacher induction, followed by the Award in Education and Training (AET), and then the Level 5 Learning and Skills Teacher (LST) apprenticeship. There is also the option to pursue Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) at a later stage.
