You’re playing a key role in making sure our products meet (and exceed) customer expectations. You’re acting as the voice of the customer internally, feeding insights into Engineering and R&D, while leading application projects that improve performance and user experience.
This is a highly hands‑on role with ~50% international travel, working directly with customers and end‑users on‑site.
A typical day for a Senior Applications Engineer could look like this:- Leading customer demos, characterisation work, and technical evaluations
- Presenting results clearly to both customers and internal teams
- Acting as the go‑to contact for application‑related support queries
- Troubleshooting complex, multi‑disciplinary issues across mechanics, optics, electronics, software, and algorithms
- Collaborating with Engineering and R&D to feed back customer insights
- Driving application projects to improve product performance and user experience
- Supporting and maintaining application lab facilities and equipment
To succeed as a Senior Applications Engineer
, we do need you to have experience of:
- Working in the semiconductor industry with a strong hands‑on focus
- Leading or supporting characterisation and demonstration activities for metrology equipment
- Supporting customers in a technical or applications‑focused role
- Diagnosing complex technical issues across multiple disciplines
- Communicating technical concepts clearly, both written and verbal
Nice to have:
- Experience with Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
- Exposure to optical systems (lasers, fibres), electronics, or electro‑mechanical systems
- Understanding of semiconductor processes
- Experience with scanning electron microscopes (SEM)
- Any involvement in product marketing or customer‑facing technical storytelling
Either a Master’s degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering, or similar, or a clear equivalent path through relevant experience.
