We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UK infrastructure delivery organisation for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering a diverse portfolio of water and wastewater projects across the Thames Valley region. Work will be focused on a range of projects for the AMP7 programme, from smaller capital maintenance works through to significant civil engineering and new-build projects.
Working from the Harwell office as part of a collaborative and well-established delivery team, you will support the commercial management of multiple projects across the programme. Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will ensure that commercial activities are undertaken in accordance with contractual obligations, internal procedures and customer expectations. This temporary assignment is initially offered on a six-month basis; however, there is every expectation that the requirement will extend.
Key Responsibilities- Support the effective commercial administration of projects, ensuring accurate and timely issue of contractual notices and correspondence.
- Prepare and assess applications for payment, valuations and cost/value reconciliations.
- Assist with cost control, forecasting and the production of monthly reports covering value, cost, profit and loss, cash flow and budgets.
- Prepare and agree applications for payment and assess payment certificates.
- Contribute to risk and value management activities, identifying commercial risks and supporting mitigation strategies.
- Prepare supply chain enquiries and assist with the negotiation, administration and close-out of subcontract agreements, including change management.
- Maintain robust commercial records and documentation, including site records, meeting packs, minutes and correspondence.
You will have demonstrable Quantity Surveying experience within a construction, utilities or infrastructure environment and be keen to further develop your commercial expertise within a major framework programme.
You will bring:- An understanding of commercial and business systems, including spreadsheet development, cost analysis and programme evaluation.
- Experience of, or exposure to, compensation events and/or variations assessment and evaluation.
- An increasing knowledge of a range of contract forms and commercial mechanisms.
- An appreciation of risk management processes relating to both programme and cost performance.
- Awareness of Earned Value Management principles.
- Experience of, or familiarity with, company procedures, document control systems and drafting contractual correspondence.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
