As an Applications Engineer
, you’ll be playing a key role in shaping how our technology performs in real-world customer environments. You’ll be acting as the bridge between customers and engineering, helping refine and elevate our products through hands‑on application insight.

• Leading and delivering customer demonstrations and characterisation activities
• Presenting results clearly to both customers and internal teams
• Acting as the go‑to contact for application‑related queries and technical support
• Diagnosing and solving complex cross‑disciplinary challenges (mechanics, optics, electronics, software, algorithms)
• Supporting and developing our applications lab and technical capabilities
• Driving application‑focused projects to ensure we are meeting and exceeding customer needs
• Gathering and feeding back customer insights to Engineering and R&D to shape product improvements
• Travelling internationally (typically 10–20%) to support customers onsite

To succeed as an Applications Engineer, we do need you to have experience of:

• Working hands‑on in a technical engineering or physical science environment (5+ years)
• Supporting customer‑facing technical activities
  , including demonstrations or product validation
• Leading or contributing to characterisation of complex systems or equipment
• Communicating technical concepts clearly, both written and verbal
• Working across disciplines to solve complex technical problems

Nice to have:

• Experience working with Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)
• Exposure to semiconductor environments or metrology equipment
• Working with optical systems (lasers/fibres), electronics, or electro‑mechanical systems
• Experience using scanning electron microscopes (SEM)
• Exposure to product marketing or customer‑driven product development

• A Master’s degree in a Physical Science or Engineering discipline

• Equivalent hands‑on experience through industry or alternative pathways
